Description

La Bodeguita del Medio is a relatively new establishment located right in the heart of historical Prague with much more on offer than just its exquisite culinary delights. The restaurant was first opened to the public on 17th December 2002 when the singer, Bohuš Matuš symbolically launched his new album here. Among those invited were Dagmar and Václav Havel as well as the designer Bořek Šipek.

This celebratory theme continued the following day with a gala evening from the Carlsbad Becherovka label, hosted by the actress Mahulena Bočanova and a huge celebration of the world-famous Havana Club rum. In addition to this, La Bodeguita del Medio also organised a New Year’s Eve event in 2002-2003 with a preview exhibition of photos taken by Jan Kalousek in Havana. The psychotronik Stanislav Brázda also chose us to launch and distribute his book “How to live to 140” here, where guests included none other than Eva Pilarová, Dáda Patrasová and Felix Slovaček.

In March, after receiving a great response from his first album, a happy Bohuš Matuš returned to Bodeguita to claim his “Golden record.” Two months later in May, we once again had the pleasure of providing the venue for another album launch; this time around for the singer Alice Springs, joined by her publishing company.

From the very beginning La Bodeguita has thrived off a rich social and cultural scene and as such guests can expect to stumble across more than one familiar face. You name it, we supply it: from aromatic and flavoursome Cuban cuisine with succulent steaks and fresh fish to fantastic Caribbean mixed drinks Cuban cigars and first rate entertainment from the Cuban “Quarteta Havana. Indeed once emerged in this authentic atmosphere, La Bodeguita del Medio offers you a generous slice of real Havana life.
